History

In 1942, the Buffalo Raceway opened at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg, NY with a half a mile racetrack, and grandstand.

The raceway was sold to the owners of the Sportservice Corporation. In 1971, Sportservice started winter racing. Simulcast racing was added to the Buffalo Raceway in the 1980s. Erie County Agricultural Society acquired the property in 1990.

The Erie County Agricultural Society added more than 900 Video Lottery Terminals to Fairgrounds Gaming in March of 2004. In 2010, Fairgrounds Gaming moved into a new building. Our facility is now, called Hamburg Gaming. The Buffalo Trotting Association Inc. owns the facility and Delaware North is the operational partner. Hamburg Gaming offers Video Lottery Terminal gaming, and a variety of food and beverage options. The Buffalo Raceway offers live and simulcast racing.
